Leavenworth - November 2007

We went over to Leavenworth for a couple of days in early November. Although it rained on the way over, we had surprisingly good weather for this time of year.

Here are a couple of views from our unit at the Worldmark resort in Leavenworth. It's right by the park along the river.

We went downtown, did some shopping and Carla found a new friend!

I found one, too!

Carla was very successful in finding more nutcracker ornaments, especially here at the Kris Kringle store.

All that shopping made us hungry so we stopped off at Pavs for dessert.

We decided to try the Fresh Pear Crepes, and oh my goodness!

We were very satisfied customers (and came back the next day for lunch).

It was really nice to get away from the remodel upheaval for a few days.

Halloween Horribles

Here is the 2007 "crop" - lots of interesting new shapes and sizes thisyear. Did pretty well selling them at work. This first batch are all magnets.

Labor Day Weekend in Walla Walla

We headed over to Walla Walla for the long weekend. Went to the Fair for the first time in almost 20 years. It was so dang hot! Here are Cora Jo and Emma on one of the rides.

Had a really nice visit with Mom and Dad - it was much cooler out of town.

And spent some time with the Borgens, too!

More kitty guests

Speaking of Hank, he likes to come in and make himself at home.

This is his sister, Natalie.

And this is Ralph, an old grizzled tomcat who's visited a couple of times.

And this is Coco who belongs to someone in the neighborhood. She's had a litter of kittens but we haven't seen them. She's quite the diva.

And finally, this is Oscar who is absolutely gorgeous. He's another tomcat we haven't been able to catch...yet!

Summer kitties

During the drab days of winter, it's nice to look back and see how pretty the garden was this last summer and how much the kitties all enjoyed it.

Here's Bela who contrasts beautifully with the foxgloves.

Actually, he's just checking out Hank, the neighbor's cat that she kicked outside.

He's not the most attractive cat, but he's a real sweetie.

May 2007 - Visitors!

On Friday, we met Charlot, Eric and Danielle at the Woodland Park Zoo. Saw some really incredible stuff, like the baby tiger and the penguin feeding. One of the first things we came across was this peacock which was about 15'-20' up in a fir tree right above us.



Willawong Station was so much fun. It has about 150 birds in there - mostly parakeets - that you can feed.

You pay $1 for a seed stick and then just hold it out and the birds fly right over to you.

Cora Jo and Emma weren't too sure about all this, but the rest of us had a great time!

Another one of the highlights was the feeding of the ocelot. A couple of live trout were put into the stream and the ocelot went fishing!



Danielle, Cora Jo and Emma had front row seats when the ocelot caught one of the trout.

Shortly after that Claudia, Carla, Emma and I went home while Charlot, Eric, Dani and Cora Jo finished up the zoo.

Saturday morning Mom and Conan came up from Tacoma and we all had breakfast to celebrate Mother's Day (a day early) with Charlot, Danielle and Michael. Afterwards, Carla gave a tour of the garden.

It was a short visit but a fun one. Hope everyone can stay longer next time!

April 2007 - Oregon Coast

Surprisingly, the beachcombing was excellent just south of the resort. No shells, but a good gravel bed and tons of agates.

Carla was the agate queen this year, snagging a couple of really big ones!

Spent a lot of time just walking on the beach and enjoying the ever-changing weather.
