48 Weeks with Donna Downey - Week 2

OK, here's Week 2. I had a rough time with this one as this is not my usual style at all. Donna drew the flowers with charcoal and then fingerpainted them. Here's her result - very loose and childlike.

And here's mine. When I drew the flowers with charcoal and painted, everything smeared and it was an ugly mess. I was about ready to just junk it and move onto Week 3 but the point of the class is to push yourself so I ended up wiping off all the charcoal and covering the mess with gesso and starting over on the flowers (without charcoal since obviously there's a trick there I need to learn). I'm still not jazzed about how it ended up but I learned a lot and am happy that I finished it.
